Cell density gradients
In agar medium, it is possible to make gradients that provide gradually decreasing local cell density in the same culture. Then it is clearly demonstrated that Invasivol looses its inhibitory effect on the growth of single cells in dense areas. Compared to controls without Invasivol, growth becomes only inhibited in areas with low cell density. Typical chemotherapeutic anti-cancer drugs would inhibit growth in all regions
